God i love happiere so much god my heart just explodes every time they show him helping his wife feel better through her depression, and aww she seemed so much better in this episode and even called him babe and aww she wasnt sure if she could help but she tried anyway and they helped save the day

Also hidabat’s dub voice is so cute and its nice that they resolved the episode by adopting the lil dude and letting him hide in the closet and be part of the yokai fam~! HE ONLY INSPIRITS PEOPLE COS HE’S SO SCARED HE DOESNT WANNA BE ALOOOONE

Also DAWW at the little short episode about komasan’s lil brother finally appearing and he’s all hero worship of his brother and asking him to help him learn all the scary human stuff but obv course komasan is super anxiety man and keeps describing eveeything as teerifying XD and then komajiro is just a cute exciteable kid who wants to try eveeything, so he accomplishes it all with no problem and poor komasan feels imcompetant, aww no! But his bro still hero worships him no matter what!!

Ok but why did the anime have to make it canon that the yokai that makes you need to piss only affects (cis) men because its an elephant and only affects ‘trunks’

Also why does it have to inspirit people by pissing on them? And why did they have to show manjimutt pissing in the street? And all nate’s damn classmates almost pissing out the goddamn window?? And the episode gets resolved by fidgephant finally getting to have a big steamy piss and YES THEY ANIMATED STEAM COMING OFF HIS PISS and then he pisses out his yokai medal and nate has to touch it. WHY DID THEY MAKE THE PISS EPISODE EVEN CREEPIER THAN IT ALREADY WAS

Tho it was funny the running joke that the yokai pad read off a bunch of obscure idioms for taking a piss and nate was like “see a man about a horse? Noone says that!” and then EVERYONE throughout the rest of the episode constantly says that

Also i love Komasan already, what a good dude! Seriously before i watched the series i expected komasan and jibanyan to be really generic pikachu esque mascots based on how they dominate the merchandise, but they actually have a lot of personality!

Jibanyan is a spoilt brat kind of cute and komasan is like…an actually adorable person? Like his personality isnt cutesy baby or anythibg he’s just like a teen or adult who happens to be incredibly kind. He is SO KIND! He’s just a very gentle dude!! He’s a relateable social anxiety man! He’s a responsible big brother!! He’s a guy i’d love to hang out with!

And i feel so bad for him that most of his jokes are just about him being an old style shrine yokai who’s never been to a city before, so he’s comically flustered by stuff that seems ordinary to us. Its kinda iffy how they decided to use real life social class as a metaphor for that, so he acts like a ‘country bumpkin’ and they keep making jokes about country accents and stuff. But the whole 'lol this lower class person who does important farming work thats the backbone of our entire country is somehow dumb for that’ joke is at least a bit less annoying when its through a billion layers of weird ghost dog metaphor.

But it did lead to a lot of very cute moments like him being too shy to step on the escalator, like HOLY SHIT the animation of a lil cartoon puppy dude doing the same anxiety things as me is somehow a million times cuter!

I WISH HIM THE BEST IN HIS SCARY NEW CITY LIFE AAAAAA

Srsly i cant believe i had such the wrong impression that he was some sort of generic personalityless mascot, i cant believe people were saying 'cinnamon roll’ in the same way as Thor from marvel! HE REALLY HAS A VERY SIMILAR PERSONALITY HOLY SHIT he’s social anxiety thorrrrrr

Oh but also seriously show, please stop with the weird sexual jokes. There’s this bit that comes out of nowhere where Komasan mistakes whisper for an icecream and they..animate whisper blushing and saying that being licked feels good. Can You Not

OK THE NOSIRS EPISODE WAS REALLY CUTE

They were so well animated?? Why did they put so much of the budget into making tiny fancy men do fancy poses aka THE BEST AND GREATEST THING? DID I SOMEHOW POSSESS THE ANIMATORS

I dont even really have much to say except OMG theyre so cute and goofy and i want to cherish them. What a great character design and what great goofyness of flounce! And oh man ive got their stupid catchphrases stuck in my head nowwwww

And FOR ONCE nate was nice and won the episode by being nice, hooray! Im sad for them that their powers mean theyve never been complimented even once before, and thats why they started doing such over the top showmanship to try and be noticed. And it was a nice message that anxiety is just like the positive trait of ‘being careful’ exaggerated to the point it starts hurting you, so its best to keep a happy medium. It was nice that the nosirs got defeated by accidentally making nate stop before doing something that actually WAS gonna go wrong, and then it was so adorable how they got all teary eyed happy at being thanked!

Tho the ending was really weird yo, why did nate only get one of them when in the game you get all three and they just count as one space on your party. Also why did he possess the yokai watch instead of just giving his medal?

Ok now im gonna be filled with existential horror for the poor nosir trapped in an eternity of the most mundane job ever. Is there one in every yokai watch??? Do they all have two brothers they never get to see again??

It was a funny meta joke tho, so overall i give this episode an A for actual funny and no weird bullshit.

Also nate and whisper copying the nosirs and doing their hammy dance with RIDICULOUS OVER THE TOP FACES was the best! So thats where that damn reaction image comes from!!

Man, yokai watch is aimed at even younger audiences than pokemon in the west so DEAR GOD this makes me uncomfortable…

Friggin Signibble episode! They could have had the yokai who changes channels on the tv be doing it for ANY OTHER DAMN SHOW but noooo

Nate and friends try and watch goddamn porn while theyre on a sleepover and theyre trying to not get caught by their parents who end up having a weirdly subdued reaction for catching their goddamn TEN YEAR OLD watching PORN

It is specifically PORN! Its the ‘adult after hours entertainment channel’ and the audio we hear of it is a bunch of girls talking about getting in the bath together in seductive tones. And the ONLY goddamn edit the english dub did was putting them in slightly less skimpy bikinis but still in bikinis. In bikinis and then we go offscreen with them talking about taking off those bikinis…

And the show doesnt even seem to present this as bad?? Its just like ha ha funny arent your parents a buzzkill for getting in the way of fun times. And nate even says “i wanna see it just cos they said im not allowed, doesnt that make things even more fun?” And the episode just ends with them promising to try again next time, ha ha funnie ending ha no damn consequences

Like seriously i know that getting sexual feelings for the first time around puberty is a thing but this was really not a nuanced and educational depiction of dealing with those problems. And the yokai watch anime is aimed at kids even younger than 10 anyway! If you wanna talk about friggin puberty changes you need to do it a bit more carefully and not JUST SHOW A BUNCH OF SKIMPY LADIES AND SOME TEN YEAR OLDS GETTING OFF ON IT
